When we looked for the big splashy press release announcing this breaking news, it didn’t exist. So, we reached out to Ram Spokesperson Nick Cappa, who confirmed the change happened. In April. “We didn’t make a big splash because it’s an ongoing effort with more trucks being tested over time,” he said. ## **So what’s the Ram 2500 GVWR increase?** Specifically, the [Ram 2500]() GVWR in all diesel configurations increases from 10,190 to 11,040 pounds, which is an 850-pound increase in GVWR and payload. At the same time, we see an 290-pound GVWR and payload increase in the Ram 3500 regular and crew cab 4X2 gas configurations, and they also hit the 11,040-pound number. Cappa shared this formal statement regarding the increase: *“Stellantis’ product development team sets high standards for testing. The results are especially important in the heavy-duty segment, where capability is key. We reassessed our working breed of trucks and have increased the Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings (GVWR). This higher capability raises most of our Ram 2500, and select Ram 3500 and Ram Chassis Cab trucks, placing them deeper within the Class 3 segment. This action supports the capability of the Ram Heavy Duty lineup, strengthens our competitive position and delivers greater value for our customers.”* ## **Our take on the Ram 2500 GVWR increase** Can we get an “Amen”? While this still doesn’t touch the max GVWR of the [Chevy Silverado 3500 HD]() at 14,000 pounds, it’s certainly closer to the max numbers we see for the 2500 diesel long bed models at 11,350.
