The post, embedded below, showcases models from 1984 to, well, 2025. While this image doesn’t tell us much, we already have [some thoughts on what to expect]() for the next-gen SUV. > View this post on Instagram > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [A post shared by Toyota USA (@toyotausa)]() ## **2025 Toyota 4Runner what to expect** First and foremost, don’t expect any drastic design changes. This next-gen vehicle will be more a design evolution than something that’s drastically different. The current model is 14 years old, and people LOVE it. So, if it ain’t broke, why break it? Sure, we’ll see some Tundra/Tacoma design cues on the front and rear fascia, but for the most part, don’t expect anything crazy. Next, we expect the V-6 to go the way of the Dodo. Similar to the new Toyota Tacoma, we think the 2025 Toyota 4Runner will get four-cylinder turbocharged engines. The base powertrain will likely be a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder turbo, which is the same as the Tacoma. Top [horsepower and torque in the Tacoma]() is 278 and 317, respectively, so we expect similar numbers in the 4Runner. Since Toyota is hybridizing all the things, it should be no surprise that the up-level powertrain will be a hybrid, likely based off same 2.4-liter turbo, like the Tacoma. The biggest change, however, will come in the form of technology. Think available digital cluster, large infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Toyota’s newest entertainment system and lots of standard safety. ## **The bottom line** Once teaserpalooza begins, we know Toyota is serious about showing off a new vehicle, so we’ll likely see new teasers every week or so until it’s revealed. And if the past is anything to go by, we’ll see this new model completely revealed within the next month. Which means it should go on sale by the end of this year.
