Esterdahl kicks off the show discussing the controversy over the best-selling truck in the U.S. For years, Ford has made the claim they have the best selling pickup with the F-Series. This claim has been questioned since it refers to several trucks, including the F-150, F-250, F-350 and F-450. At times Ford has said, more accurately, it has the best selling pickup lineup. Looking at the [2023 Q2 sales numbers]() more closely, Esterdahl discusses the issues with GM’s reporting on trucks. Then, he goes back into the vault to bring up a story he wrote more than three years ago, breaking down [how many F-150s]() he thinks they really sell. Next, he brings up the topic of vehicle warranties and how they factor into what truck you are buying. This is related to the [recent news]() of the Chevy Silverado 2.7-liter TurboMax engine receiving an additional 40,000 miles of warranty coverage. It is now 6 years, 100,000 miles, which, as it turns out, is the same as our [long-term test model’s 3.0-liter Duramax]() diesel engine. He also discusses the Nissan Titan and when it was touted as the best warranty for a full-size truck. After this discussion, Esterdahl shares the patents for a rather odd idea Ford has to [stand up while you are driving](). It is pretty wild. He then launches into answering viewer questions as well as puts up a funny truck image of a black Dodge tailgate on a white Ram truck. Finally, he shares information on why trucks have gotten bigger than to changes in the CAFE rules from decades ago. This was related to a viewer question about regular cab, short bed trucks like the one [Ram killed a few years ago](). Unintended consequences for sure.
