Since publisher Tim Esterdahl owns a [2023 Chevy Silverado 3.0L Duramax Diesel]() pickup, he thought it would be a good idea to ask some mechanic friends to help him make [this video]() to show how it’s done. ## **First up: Installing a PEE bypass valve** While the guys have the truck on a lift to replace the oil pan, they’re going to install a nifty little bypass valve which increases the flow of the transmission fluid to increase the cooling capacity. Check out how easy that install is when the truck is up in the air! ## **Chevy Silverado transmission fluid check: no dipsticks** Remember when Esterdahl [replaced his transmission cooler]()? Well it makes sense that a larger cooler would use more fluid, but because the system is sealed, he was unable to check and didn’t really even know how. To install the bypass valve, the fluid had to be drained. So, the mechanics saved the fluid and added it back when they were done and intended to add extra to account for the new transmission cooler. But there’s no dipstick to tell you when you’ve added enough. Say what? Yeah. Basically the way to tell if you have filled the reservoir is to look underneath and see if fluid is coming out.
