We [started hearing rumors]() in late 2022 that it would be coming back. Now, [a new report from Drive]() out of Australia confirms the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser might really be a thing in the U.S. This article is about the upcoming Australian-bound Land Cruiser Prado, which is built on the same platform as the Lexus GX, which shared a platform with the American Land Cruiser. But in a throwaway paragraph at the end, the article states: *“Unconfirmed reports from company insiders claim the large SUV will drop the Prado name for the North American market – where the LandCruiser 300 Series is not sold – to be sold as the LandCruiser in that region.”* The timeline for the Australian vehicle puts the reveal of the vehicle in late 2023 with deliveries to being in Q2 of 2024. Considering we’ve started to see [2024 Lexus GX teasers](), that vehicle will be revealed soon. Which means a Toyota variant could be hot on its heels. ***UPDATE: It’s confirmed! The [Toyota Land Cruiser is returning to the U.S.](), and we’ll probably see it before the end of the year.*** ## **What we’d expect in a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser** Given the Land Cruiser off-road chops, we’d fully expect an upright design with some cool toys included at a factory level. Given the [2024 Toyota Tacoma’s recent reveal]() with a Trailhunter trim, that would make sense for Land Cruiser – complete with ARB parts and steel bumpers. We don’t expect any kind of a V-8 engine option, but we will likely see one of the i-Force Max hybrid options, probably the one we saw revealed in the Tacoma with the 2.4-liter turbo mated to the 48-horsepower electric motor. ## **The bottom line** Though we don’t have any firm confirmations that the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is U.S. bound, we think this makes a lot of sense and we wouldn’t be surprised if we see it teased or revealed in the next couple months.
