Spoiler alert: The 2023 Ford F-150 didn’t make the top three. Now, [in a recent article](), the folks at Consumer Reports take it one step further, saying this is one high-selling vehicle you should avoid. The publication’s quick take on the vehicle, without mincing words, says the truck’s ride, handling and reliability come up short. You’ve got to pay to play. What we will say: Both Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra top the F-150 in predictive reliability. And there are pros and cons to both of those trucks. The Ram 1500 was last [redesigned in 2019](), but that next-gen truck was so far ahead of the competition when it launched, everyone has been playing catch up since. It’s attractively styled, has all the updated infotainment tech you could want and has a lot of options from base to lux-level trims. We have more of a checkered past with the 2022 Tundra [since we bought one for the channel]() and, well, didn’t love it as much as we wanted to. However, it’s got a slick infotainment system, fresh styling and a hybrid option for better towing capability. Plus, a lot of the bugs from 2022 should have been worked out for 2023. ## **The bottom line** Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you’ll buy what you want – especially if you’re brand loyal. However, what the folks at CR are trying to say is this: Don’t buy in to all the marketing hype. Just because a vehicle sells well doesn’t mean it’s the best vehicle out there. Do your research. Take the trucks for more than a 10-minute test drive (we recommend seeing if the dealer will allow a 24-hour test).
