Looks like the Gladiator is going to borrow the changes from the [2024 Jeep Wrangler](). This truck was without camouflage, a very untypical thing with trucks in development, except for the dash. The dash was completely hidden. ## **2024 Jeep Gladiator spied** The photos of the truck, found in [the embedded video below](), show off the new seven-slot front grille the 2024 Wrangler also sports. For the sides, the design doesn’t change, and the Gladiator even keeps the antennae whereas the Wrangler incorporated it into the windshield. On the rear, the Jeep lettering looks different and the rear bumper is missing one tow hook. The prior generation had two tow hooks flanking the license plate. Inside, the cabin is covered with camouflage and the only items you can make out are the 4WD shifter and transmission shifter. However, it does appear the shape of the screen behind the camouflage might be the same width as the new 12.5 inch display found in the 2024 Wrangler. ## **What to expect for 2024 Gladiator** The big news for the 2024 Jeep Gladiator is likely not going to be the minor exterior changes or the revamped interior. Rather it is going to be with the powertrains. Currently, the Jeep Gladiator comes with two choices: a 3.6-liter V-6 and a [3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine](). The gas engine can be had with either an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. For the diesel, it only comes with the 8-speed automatic. The Jeep Wrangler, on the other hand, comes with four powertrain choices including a [plug-in hybrid 4xe]() and a big 6.4-liter V-8. Rumor mills have indicated a plug-in hybrid, i.e. 4xe, version of the Jeep Gladiator is coming for the 2024 model year. That sounds like a done deal. The bigger question is going to be on the diesel and the 6.4-liter V-8? Will either of those make it into the 2024 Gladiator. I suspect not, due to low volume, but who knows. Jeep has a history of doing what you don’t expect. ## **The bottom line** This one is a bit of a shocker. With [the Ram Dakota]() rumored to debut by next year, one would have assumed the Jeep Gladiator might have died with Stellantis not wanting to compete with itself on its own sales lots. However, the Jeep name might be strong enough to offer two versions of a midsize truck. Plus, the popularity of midsize and full-size trucks now is pushing automakers to offer more options. Is this just the beginning of a long run of Jeep Gladiator trucks, or is this the fat lady signing with the final changes to the Jeep truck? Comment below.
