In the coming weeks, a new Ram Rampage is expected to be revealed for the Brazil market, and it is fueling speculation on what Ram might have planned for a [new midsize truck](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2022/09/yes-or-no-will-ram-bring-a-compact-or-midsize-truck-to-us/>) in the U.S. market.

We know Ram showed [U.S. dealers a midsize truck concept back in March](<https://www.autonews.com/cars-concepts/ram-midsize-ev-pickup-truck-concept-shown-dealers>), which one dealer described as “spectacular.” So, the idea of a midsize — or smaller — truck isn’t off the table in the States.

So, the question is: What pieces of the Ram Rampage might make it to America — if, in fact, Ram does bring a midsize truck back to the U.S.

## **What we know about Ram Rampage**

While the Brazilian truck has yet to be revealed, we do know a few details about the Ram Rampage thanks to various automotive outlets.

First, [AutoBlog](<https://www.autoblog.com/2023/04/21/ram-rampage-compact-pickup-previewed-for-brazil/>) reports the truck will be more [Ford Maverick](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2021/10/2022-ford-maverick-unexpectedly-good-first-drive/>) like in size with a unibody construction. It is expected to share a platform with the Jeep Commander (not sold in U.S.), Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet.

This is different than the rumored return of the [Dakota](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2023/01/ram-dakota-rumors-surface-again/>), which might be a body-on-frame midsize truck.

This smaller size could be 197 inches long, 73 inches wide and 71 inches tall according to [Auto Segredos](<https://www.autossegredos.com.br/segredos/ram-rampage-laramie-2024-revela-sua-frente-e-linhas-da-carroceria/>), a Brazilian automotive website. In comparison, the Ford Maverick is 200 inches long, 73 inches wide and 69 inches tall.

Second, [MoparInsiders](<https://moparinsiders.com/ram-teases-its-new-rampage-compact-pickup-for-south-america/>) believes the truck will be powered by two different options. One is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine as well as a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to be offered later.

Third, the exterior styling is briefly shown in the embedded video below. We can see several styling cues from the Ram 1500 making it down into the compact truck like the large RAM emblem on the grille and headlight design. Also, you can see Ram Turbo on the hood which is similar in design to what Ram has done with its Hemi badges on its vehicles.

Interior styling hasn’t been revealed.

Finally, we are seeing plenty of spy photos online, and there was a prototype model being tested in Michigan near Ram’s proving grounds. The fact a prototype was spotted in Michigan has generated a lot of comments, although, it isn’t uncommon for global vehicles to be brought to the U.S. for further testing.

## **The bottom line**

While it seems Ram’s attention at the moment is on the [2025 Ram Rev](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2023/04/500-miles-of-range-2025-ram-1500-rev-details-revealed/>) electric truck, the smaller truck market is growing and it is becoming even more obvious the automaker needs a player in either the midsize or compact segment. The new [Ford Ranger](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2023/05/2024-ford-ranger-ranger-raptor-5-things-you-need-to-know/>), [Chevy Colorado](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2023/02/2023-chevy-colorado-awesome-with-a-side-of-quirky-first-drive/>), [GMC Canyon](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2023/05/2023-gmc-canyon-is-this-midsize-truck-worth-a-luxury-price-tag-first-drive/>) and forthcoming [Toyota Tacoma](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2023/05/2024-toyota-tacoma-official-reveal-date-plus-new-photos/>) has truck fans attention at the moment, and Ram could lose from full-size truck buyers looking to downsize without a competitor.
