The large SUV getting an electric powertrain isn’t much of a surprise, but the features and range could be the bigger surprise. A first thing Monday morning [press release]() the Cadillac Escalade IQ will debut later in 2023 joining the [Lyric]() and upcoming Celestiq to further round out the lineup of electric SUVs from the brand. ## **Cadillac Escalade IQ what we expect** Putting an electric powertrain in the large luxury SUV is a feat by itself and it begs the question if they will tap into the many party tricks the [GMC Hummer]() features. For example, it probably is a foregone conclusion the Escalade IQ will come with four-wheel steering. This just makes a lot of sense for larger vehicles like the Hummer. The system allows all four wheels to turn allowing the large SUV to literally turn on a dime. Second, the popular Watts to Freedom (WTF) mode has been a big hit for the Hummer and this is sure to make it into production. Third, range will likely exceed 350+ miles like we [speculated on last August](). This range is from the GM Ultium battery which has proven to be fairly accurate in its range estimates unlike the Ford F-150 Lightning range. Fourth, it will have a fast-charge capability with the ability to go from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. Finally, you can expect loads of tech. Everything from GM’s semi-autonomous driving Super Cruise to special graphics and other goodies. This is the brand’s flagship SUV and it will get everything Cadillac offers. Pricing will be well into the 6 figures and it will likely not start production until 2025. ## **The bottom line** An electric Cadillac Escalade IQ seems like a no-brainer with the direction of the company. It will be expensive, fast, heavy and, well, flat out awesome to customers who want electric, but can’t fit their lifestyle into a smaller SUV.
