Honda announced the recall will target 2007 through 2011 CR-V SUVs sold in 22 states and the District of Columbia where road salt is used in the winter according to a [Reuters.com story](). ## **Honda CR-V recall details** This recall will address this issue by having dealers inspect and install a support brace or repair the rear frame as needed free of charge. If the damage is more significant, Honda may offer to repurchase the recalled vehicles. Honda said it has received 61 U.S. customer complaints with no report of fatalities or injuries related to this recall. This recall was filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Thursday, April 6, 2023. Owners will be notified by Honda or they can check with their dealer. Reuters also reports in 2019, Honda recalled 84,000 CR-V SUVs in Canada for the same issue. The company said at that time it didn’t believe the rate of rear frame rust would impact the structural integrity or useful life of vehicles in the U.S. due to “fewer unpaved roads and lower salt usage.” This recall was just filed meaning an official recall number isn’t available yet nor have dealers been notified. It will take some more time to get the recall fix ready, dealers and customers to be notified. ## **Rust still happens?** In an era of self-driving electric cars, it may seem bizarre the automotive world is still seeing issues with rust.
