By Jill Ciminillo Published: 2023-01-05T22:30:59+00:00 Updated: 2025-07-23T15:12:30+00:00 ![Featured image]() One of the biggest reveals at the [Consumer Electronics Show]() in Las Vegas has to be the Ram Revolution BEV Concept. We’ve talked a lot about [what it could be]() and [what we hoped it would be](), and now we have a clearer picture of what it will be. In many ways Ram was smart to be the last player on the field because it was able to take some of the best features from the [Ford F-150 Lightning]() and the [Chevy Silverado EV]() and incorporate them into a new product. While there are certainly some fantastical concept-only features (like the completely glass roof and digital side-view mirrors), there are a smattering of features we think will make it into production – including one of the most novel features we’ve seen in an EV to date. Unfortunately, Ram didn’t give us a lot of photos at the time of posting this article – nor did they give us any video. Therefore, you’ll have to use your imagination on how some of these features will be implemented. So, let’s take a look at some of the cool features you’ll see on the Ram Revolution BEV Concept – and probably the production model – then we’d like for you to comment below and tell us if you think Ram nailed it – or didn’t go far enough. ### **Powered mid-gate** Taking a page from the Chevy Silverado EV (and Avalanche), the Ram Revolution BEV Concept has a powered mid-gate that will open and allow for passing through larger items into the cabin. ### **4-wheel steer** Another page from the Silverado EV and even the [GMC Hummer EV]() is the 4-wheel steer option. Though we don’t think we’ll see anything gimmicky like [Crab Walk](), you do see up to 15 degrees of articulation. This means the truck has greater maneuverability in low-speed situations – like parking in a tight lot or on off-road trails. ![Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept]() Ram 1500 Revolution Battery-electric Vehicle (BEV) Concept armrest extended and open. (Image courtesy of Stellantis North America) ### **Removable center console** This is where you start to see some of the Ram-specific features come into play, and we haven’t seen interior flexibility like this outside of the minivan segment. For the Ram Revolution BEV Concept, there is a removable center console that allows for more storage options. Leave the console in, and it can convert to a workstation surfaced *à la* Ford F-150 Lighting. ### **Tuning-fork lighting** While the exterior profile of the truck reflects what you’d expect from a typical full-size truck, there are some cues the Ram Revolution BEV Concept is something special – namely the extended cabin and lighting signatures. The grille has a bold Ram look, but the new “tuning-fork” headlight signature and lit Ram badging scream EV. ### **A frunk pass-through** This right here is the novel feature that truly sets the Ram Revolution BEV Concept apart: a frunk pass through. We had to read this part of the press release a few times and finally reached out to Ram for clarification, and we’re still a bit confused. But the pass-through is under the large moveable touch screen. So, when you remove the console and the screen, you can fit objects up to 18-feet long *with the tailgate closed*. We can’t wait to see how this looks in practice, and we really, really want to see it in the production model. ### **Third-row jumps seats** Because this truck is built on the STLA Frame platform, the interior cabin has an extra 4 inches of length. This allows for more creative storage and passenger space. Thus, Ram introduces a third-row jump seat mounted into the powered mid-gate. This is another one of those features we have to visualize because there aren’t any current photos. But we have to imagine this would be one of those in-case-of-emergency seats – kind of like the third row in the [Mitsubishi Outlander](). ### **New tech** In addition to the physical features, there are a number of tech features we think we’ll see not only in the production version but also other Stellantis (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) vehicles. The biggies to watch for: augmented reality head-up display, an intelligent storage app that helps measure objects to determine if they’ll fit in the vehicle, smart-home control that allows drivers to adjust things like the thermostat in their homes, biometric (likely face and fingerprint) recognition to operate the vehicle and Level 3 autonomous (aka hands-free) driving capability. ### **The bottom line** Other than that, we still don’t have too many details on actual Ram Revolution BEV. We don’t which features highlighted in the concept – like the super cool frunk pass through – will make it into production. However, we can assume the Ram EV will best the F-150 Lighting and Silverado EV on range – especially since it’s built on the STLA Frame platform, which will get up to 500 miles of range. We also know it will get ultra-fast charge capability with the ability to add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes. In terms of pricing, we’re betting Ram is waiting to see where the starting price of the Silverado EV actually ends up before coming in a shade less. We know Chevy said $40k – but so did Ford, and now the base Lighting is at $47k. One thing we do know: We’ll see a lot more details on the production 2024 Ram Revolution BEV before the end of the year. Perhaps at the [LA Auto Show]()? Stay tuned.
