We knew it was coming, and now Toyota has finally released image of the Toyota Grand Highlander along with the reveal date. Though this image leaves a lot to the imagination, we’ll get to see it IRL on February 8, 2023, just before the start of [the Chicago Auto Show](). ### **What is the Toyota Grand Highlander?** As we [previously reported](), the Toyota Grand Highlander is going to be a larger three-row SUV and should borrow most of its design elements from the Highlander. It will retain its unibody construction, which will help separate it from the body-on-frame, truck-like [Toyota Sequoia.]() We are guessing there will be both a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine as well as a hybrid powertrain option. For reference, the turbocharged engine in the Highlander produces 265 horsepower, 310 pound-feet of torque and returns an EPA-estimated 25 combined MPG. While the Highlander hybrid returns 35 combined MPG. The regular Highlander is available in both in front- and all-wheel drive, and there are a variety of different trim levels, starting at $36,420 for turbo and $40,220 for hybrid. We expect the Toyota Grand Highlander will start in the $40k, range with a hybrid model starting around $45k. This vehicle will likely be built at the Princeton, Indiana, plant alongside the Highlander and [Sienna](), and it should be in dealer lots by the summer of 2023. A Lexus version, [dubbed the TX](), is slated to come out as well, and it would be the more luxury version of the Grand Highlander. With the death of the RX L, this would slot right above the RX while offering a lower price point than the [Lexus LX 600](). ### **The bottom line** With the improvements to fuel economy, a three-row unibody SUV makes a lot of sense for families who want a little bit more room for some trips with kids or luggage without needing all the room a minivan provides.
