For 2023, the midsize GMC truck will be crew cab only with a short bed. Plus, it has a single 2.7-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. While this is the same engine we see in the [2023 Chevy Colorado](), this version only comes in the Turbo High-Output option. ### **Price hike for 2023 GMC Canyon** With the slimmed down product offerings, it’s hard to do a true apples-to-apples comparison since the 2022 Canyon was offered with an extended cab and crew cab in either a short or long box. The starting price for these configurations, per the [GMC build-and-price tool](), is $28,995 for the extended cab and $30,895 or $41,595 for either the short or long bed with the crew cab model. Now, the 2023 GMC Canyon will have a starting MSRP of $38,095, according to *[GMAuthority.com]()*, which includes the $1,495 destination charge. This is for a 2WD Elevation trim. Moving beyond the Elevation trim, the AT4 will start at $45,395, Denali is $52,495, AT4X is $56,995, and the top trim AT4X edition 1 starts at $66,290. The Elevation trim is the only one offered in both 2WD and 4WD. All other models are 4WD only. Customers should be able to place an order for a new 2023 GMC Canyon now with production ramping up in January, 2023. ### **The bottom line** While everything is getting more expensive, these prices for a midsize pickup are going to give people some real pause. Looking at the AT4 and Denali volume models, you’re talking $45-52k *plus* options, taxes, registration, etc. It wasn’t so long ago the midsize pickup was considered the cheaper and more fuel-efficient version of a full-size truck.
