On December 20, a number of automotive websites reported the 2023 GMC Canyon pricing configurator went live. But when we went to find it a day later, all we could find was a link to the [2022 configurator](<https://www.gmc.com/trucks/previous-year/canyon/elevation/build-and-price/config>).

We did a little digging, and while the configurator is live, the link appears to have been momentarily pulled from the GMC build-and-price page.

So, if you’re looking for the link and can’t find it, [go here](<https://www.gmc.com/trucks/canyon/elevation/build-and-price/trims>). You’re welcome.

After playing around with the configurator a bit, here are a few of our biggest discoveries.

### **2023 GMC Canyon pricing**

We did get a sneak peek at the 2023 GMC Canyon pricing [earlier this month](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2022/12/huge-price-hike-for-2023-gmc-canyon/>) via a leak. But now we really have the chance to dig into the pricing and options as well as play around with how we’d trim the truck.

[As previously noted](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2022/08/2023-gmc-canyon-revealed-special-edition-with-63k-price-and-4-other-things-to-know/>), there is just one cab/bed configuration and only four trims. There is just one trim available with 2WD capability – the base Elevation model – and all the other trims are 4WD only. On the base Elevation model, which starts at $38,095, the AWD option will add $3,300.

We see the AT4X, with a base price of $56,995, will have a late availability. But if you trick it out and add bells and whistles, you’re more likely looking at a price of around $68k. We added Volcanic Red Tintcoat paint ($645), the Edition 1 Package ($9,295) and a power sunroof $1,000. But when we tried to add the Sports Bar Package, that was a no-go if you wanted to keep the Edition 1 package intact, which we did.

So, what does this Edition 1 Package include:

- Lighting wiring kit
- 30-inch off-road front grille light bar
- Off-road front bumper with safari bar
- Tire pressure monitoring
- Performance front skid plate
- 17-inch beadlock capable wheels
- Underbody cameras
- Accessory power distribution box
- ComeUp Winch
- Accessory switch kit
- Unique Edition 1 badging

This package is only available on the top AT4X trim, but you do have a number of other options on the other trims that will make them very off-road capable. Think lift packages, skid plates and technology packages.

### **![2023 GMC Canyon pricing](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2023-GMC-Canyon-pricing-configurator.png>)**

### **Safety surprise**

What we will point out is GM is being GM in optioning out safety features, and this perpetually irks us. If you want thinks like blind-spot steering assist, rear-cross-traffic braking, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert and 360-degree cameras – it’s all an option.

The good news is, you can get them as options on the base trim, but it’s still going to cost more than $1k with the Safety Plus Package ($445) and Technology Package ($950).

Oh, and in case you’re wondering about remote start, that’s a part of the Convenience Package on the Elevation trim, and the configurator says you have to see the dealer for pricing.

### **The bottom line**

Though the 2023 GMC Canyon pricing configurator might be fully live by the time you get to this article, there are still a couple key takeaways we have to offer: Up-level safety you get standard on a Toyota Corolla is optional on a luxury truck, and midsize trucks are getting more expensive with fewer options.

In general, we can’t wait to drive the 2023 GMC Canyon, but dang, we never thought we’d spend $70k for a midsize truck.
