But beyond that we don’t have too many concrete details. Here’s what we (think we) know. ### **What is it?** [According to Automotive News](), it will be a stretched version of [the Highlander](), and the upcoming Lexus TX will be based on it. It is slated to be a unibody three-row SUV, and it will be [built alongside the regular Highlander]() in in Princeton, Indiana. It’s important to note, this will differ from [the three-row Sequoia](), as that full-size SUV is body-on-frame. It will (thankfully) get a more spacious third row, advanced technology and more up-level materials. Where the Highlander is a midsize SUV, the Grand Highlander will be in the full-size category. ### **When is it coming?** According to the Automotive News future pipeline timeline the Toyota Grand Highlander is expected to be new in 2023. We’re not sure if that means it will be a 2023 model or it will be revealed in 2023 as a 2024 model. There is also no indication when it will appear in 2023. ### **What can we expect?** Since this is a stretched version of the regular Highlander, we expect it to have a similar exterior design and the same powertrains. The 2023 Highlander has a 265-horsepower, 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine as well as a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder, two-electric motor hybrid system that delivers 243 horsepower. We can also expect the latest greatest tech, including wireless charging, the new Toyota infotainment system, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a digital display and a hands-free power liftgate. ### **The bottom line on the Toyota Grand Highlander** Because the Toyota Grand Highlander hasn’t been officially announced, much of this article is an educated guess. If it’s to be a 2023 model, we’ll see more details before the end of 2022 – perhaps at the LA Auto Show in November. Otherwise, expect the Grand Highlander to be a 2024 model.
