What we found interesting is that this is loosely based on and shares some components with the police pursuit-rated Tahoe – but it’s faster. ### **What’s the engine?** The 2023 Tahoe RST Performance Edition is equipped with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine, but it adds 13 horsepower and 7 pound-feet of torque, for respective outputs of 433 and 467. This translates to a 0-to-60-MPH time of 5.78 seconds and a top speed of 124 MPH. What’s more, with great power comes great stopping ability, and the Performance Edition, equipped with Brembo brakes, can go from 60-to-0-MPH in 133 feet. ### **Components shared with the PPV** Because the Performance Edition has been tuned to handle speed with confidence, it makes sense that it shares some components with the Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV). So, what does the Performance Edition get that the PVV has? Per [the press release](): - Police-spec springs, retuned dampers and police-spec chassis calibrations - Police-spec lower ride height of 0.4 inch in front and 0.8 inch in the rear - Brembo front and rear brakes with unique Torch Red calipers. The front brake rotors are nearly 25% larger in diameter than the standard RST system - Performance-calibrated brake pedal feel - Police-spec Firestone Firehawk Pursuit 275/55R20 tires with specific 20-inch aluminum wheels in black Ironically, the engine is not shared, as the PPV has the 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8. As a bonus, even with all the performance parts, you don’t lose the SUV capability, as it still has the same 7,600-pound towing capacity as the base RST. [Embedded video]() ### **The bottom line on the Tahoe RST Performance Edition** With better wheels, blacked-out badging and a passel load of performance parts, how can you go wrong with the 2023 Tahoe RST Performance Edition? Production for this vehicle will begin in late 2022, which means we should start seeing availability in early 2023.
