The Silverado ZR2 Bison takes everything that worked great on the Colorado ZR2 Bison and adds it to the bigger truck. This collaboration between [American Expedition Vehicles]() (AEV) and Chevy created one of the more sought after Colorado models, and it should do the same here. ### **What makes the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison drool worthy?** While the looks have us thinking this is the rig we want when the Zombie apocalypse comes, it is the off-road gear upgrades that will get your attention. Before we get to the list, just know the Silverado ZR2 Bison is really just a [Silverado ZR2]() with a special off-road tuning and a collection of AEV gear. What AEV gear did they use? The best stuff. Obviously. First, the front and rear bumpers have been redone with 3-millimeter thick stamped steel, which are powder and e-coated. This means you’re actually supposed to use as bumpers without fear of cracking the plastic. The front bumper is three pieces and features integrated black, vertical front tow hooks. It is also compatible with an available winch assembly. Next, the underbody has been further protected using five different Boron steel skid plates, which are thinner but three and a half times stronger than similar cold-stamped, high-strength steel plating. In other words, it is really tough stuff and ready for a beating. These skid plates cover the front and rear differentials, transfer case and fuel tank. There is also a steel rocker panel to protect the sides of the truck. Finally, there are exclusive gloss-black 18-inch AEV wheels wrapped with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. These additions are on top of the ZR2 standard equipment like the 6.2-liter V-8, Multimatic 40-milimeter DSSV shocks, new suspension tuning, front and rear e-lockers and the new Terrain mode drive mode allowing for one-pedal rock crawling. ### **What about the looks?** As far as styling goes, the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison has an exclusive body-color grille bar with the ZR2 badge and the “Flow Tie” emblem, which allows air to flow through the logo. The rear features a bold black-matte finish with the standard[Multi-Flex tailgate]() offering the various ways to fold down the tailgate for hauling items and/or getting in and out of the bed. Throughout the truck, there are AEV badges on the interior and exterior, including the prominent location on the front headrest and all-weather floor mats. Chevy says the Silverado ZR2 Bison will start production early 2023 with an MSRP of $78,490, which includes the destination fee. ### **The bottom line** If this new 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Bison is anything like the Colorado ZR2 Bison, and we expect it will be, then get ready for a seriously cool truck coming. Sure, it isn’t a Raptor or TRX competitor, but it is darn close (just needs a supercharger, really). For Chevy fans, it is great to see the company keep expanding its off-road trucks. And with those looks, this truck is going to turn some heads!
