The Toyota Tundra recall issued on June 23, 2022, says 46,176 trucks are affected, including our long-term test truck, due to “flange nuts on the axle shaft sub-assemblies can loosen over time and potentially cause one or both axle shaft sub-assemblies to separate from the axle housing,” according to the [NHTSA 22V445000 document](). These trucks include all 2022 models whether they are hybrid or non-hybrid powertrains. Toyota says dealers will inspect the rear axle assembly, tighten the axle flange nuts and replace any damaged axle-related components. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by July 15, 2022 and owners can check their app to see the latest recalls on their truck as well. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
