So, two years into the produce cycle, it makes sense there aren’t any massive changes. However, to keep things fresh, Toyota has added a Nightshade Edition to the 2023 Venza lineup. ### **Based on the XLE trim** The Venza Nightshade Edition will be based on the mid-grade XLE trim. This means it will come standard with leatherette seating surfaces, heated front seats, a 7-inch behind-the-wheel gauge cluster, blind spot monitoring and automatic rear braking. ### **Nightshade Edition colors** One of the key distinguishing features for the 2023 Venza Nightshade Edition will be the blacked-out exterior trim pieces as well as black mirror caps, door handles, rocker panels and available roof rails. Additionally, it is available in three premium colors: Celestial Black, Wind Chill Pearl and Ruby Flare Red. The Venza Nightshade Edition can also be equipped with the Star Gaze panoramic roof, which is typically reserved for the Limited trim. ### **Also new: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5** In addition to the Nightshade Edition, the 2023 Venza also gets the upgraded Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which is the newer version of Toyota’s safety suite. This system now includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, which can detect an oncoming vehicle or pedestrian at intersections when making a turn. ### **The bottom line on the 2023 Venza** When Toyota launched the Venza for 2021, it was already what I like to call a “Lexified” vehicle with up-scale design and premium features. So, frankly, it hasn’t needed much of a boost. The Nightshade Edition plus the upgraded safety are just enough to get the Venza through to 2024, where I think we’ll see some more significant changes.
