As it heads into the 2023 model year, it’s time for a refresh, and Hyundai gives this three-row SUV even more tech and features as well as a solid kick in the design pants. Hyundai introduced the 2023 Palisade at the [2022 New York International Auto Show](), and here are some of the most important things to know about it. ### **More upright exterior design** Taking a page out of the Kia Telluride book, the 2023 Palisade will get a more upright and bold design for the refresh. The grille is much more “in your face,” and the SUV retains its unique headlight signature while enhancing it. With tweaks to the front and rear fascia, grille and wheels, the Palisade looks more handsome and rugged rather than elegant and pretty. ### **Second- and third-row amenities** New for 2023, Palisade adds heated-and-cooled seats to the second row as well as available winged-out head rests. The big add in my book, however, is heated seats in the third row. Previously, we’ve only seen this feature in luxury vehicles like the BMW X7. ### **More digital stuff** The outgoing Palisade did an excellent job with technology, including things like the digital driver’s display and Blind View Monitor (a behind-the-wheel display, showing blind spots when the blinker is engaged). But the 2023 Palisade levels up, adding a 12-inch infotainment screen, rear camera mirror and USB-C charge ports for quicker charging. Furthermore, Hyundai advances its digital key (where you can ditch the key fob, and just use your phone as the key) by making it usable on both Android and Apple devices – the latter is new for 2023. Another bonus is enhanced wireless charging, with an increase from 5W to 15W. ### **Interior upgrades** In addition to all the digital things, the 2023 Palisade will get enhanced interior materials, a new instrument cluster, new steering wheel and acoustic-laminated rear seat glass for the Calligraphy models. The biggest interior enhancement might be the addition of the ergo-motion driver’s seat. We’ve seen this before on Genesis vehicles, and what it does is automatically set your driver’s seat to an ergonomically correct position based on height and weight information you add into the vehicle settings. ### **Tow mode added** The powertrain isn’t new on the 2023 Palisade. You still have the 3.8-liter V-6 engine that delivers 262 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque. The big change to the drivetrain, however, is the addition of a tow mode when you opt for Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. This will adjust the towing profile, holding gears longer and reducing the frequency of the shift response. ### **The bottom line on the 2023 Palisade** To me, the Hyundai Palisade has always been a “wow” vehicle. What I love the most is all the lux-level amenities you get for the price. The 2022 model starts at $34,595 including destination and tops out at $48,285. Though pricing hasn’t been announced for the 2023 Paliside, I don’t expect a huge increase, though I do anticipate the top trim to start at more than $50k. We’ll know more soon as the 2023 Palisade is expected to hit dealers this summer. So, stay tuned.
