Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for nearly 653,000 F-series trucks and SUVs to address faulty windshield wipers, which could break.

The affected vehicles are certain 2020-21 Ford F-150 pickups and Expedition SUVs; 2020-22 Super Duty F-350, F-450 and F-550 pickups; and 2020-21 Lincoln Navigator SUVs.

This recall was submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration last week and affected owners are expected to be notified by May 23, 2022.

In a related document, under the [recall number 22V2500000](<https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2021/FORD/F-150%252520SUPER%252520CAB/PU%25252FEC/4WD#recalls>), Ford says they were first made aware of the issue on August 26, 2021 when tripped wiper arm splines on certain Expedition vehicles were brought to their attention.

**NHTSA Campaign Number:**22V250000
 **Manufacturer** Ford Motor Company
 **Components** VISIBILITY
 **Potential Number of Units Affected**652,996

After analyzing these field reports and working with their supplier, Ford found the “spline casting tooth height” was not to specification. This faulty spline design and tooling to build the part was traced to other vehicles like the Navigation, F-150, Super Duty and Medium truck vehicles.

Further investigation found the supplier processes found the tooth head casting was not being measured correctly for the wiper arms used in those vehicles.

This problem because worse as the winter weather set in and more reports came into the Ford team.

On April 7, 2022, Ford decided to issue the recall for the affected vehicles.

The recall states dealers will replace both front windshield wiper arms free of charge.
