This is part 1 of 4 in a series of videos that we originally published as [an epic 75 minutes towing comparison video]() featuring four different powertrains from four different manufacturers. Some people found 75 minutes of Publisher Tim Esterdahl just a bit too much to digest at one time, so we’ve split that video up in to four bite-size pieces, each focusing on one truck. ### A few facts This is the 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost 4×4 Supercrew with the King Range package. It also has a 5 1/2-foot bed, 3.5 liter twin-turbo V-6 engine, which offers 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. The max tow rating for this truck is 12,400 pounds and the max payload is 1,321 pounds. This truck costs $79,400 and gets approximately 24 MPG. ### The test: F-150 PowerBoost hybrid towing There are a lot of things to factor in when you’re running a tow test and you have to use the same trailer, drive the same roads and perform the tests in the same road and weather conditions in order for the results to be fair. After his 50 mile drive, Esterdahl makes a few notes about the 2021 F-150 PowerBoost. When coming to a stop, there is no bucking or out-of-control feeling, which is good. He reports that the ride is very comfortable, but he would like to see tow mirrors as an option on the F-150 for people who do tow now and then. This truck usually runs between 1st and 8th gear when towing. And from [the video](), we see Esterdahl is getting about 8.4 MPG (computer numbers), and that’s with a medium-grade fuel.
