Here are the best 2022 trucks resale value and SUVs according to Kelley Blue Book with some surprise winners. The annual survey looks at the best vehicles and brands that hold their value according to the Kelley Blue Book Official Residual Value Guide and differs slightly from other studies [like this one]() for 2021 models. Awards are given to vehicles earning the highest 5-year residual value in their category from KBB. They say low-volume vehicles are excluded from the awards except for electric, luxury and sports car categories. KBB also states these vehicles “retain their value better than 95% of all other models. While the average new vehicle will be worth about 40% of its original sticker price after 60 months, these 10 vehicles will return an average of more than 59% to their owners’ pockets.” This translates into some big savings for owners. For example, a $45,000 vehicle would be worth $18,000 on average. However, if you buy one of the top vehicles with 59% residual value, then you would have $26,550 or $8,500 more after five years. ### 2022 trucks with the best resale value KBB’s list includes one truck from each category: compact, mid-size, full-size and heavy-duty trucks. While some of these trucks are new to the market, KBB is looking at past residual information to determine their future value. This is a common trend in the industry when trying to determine lease residual values and for financing new vehicles.
