By Erica Mueller Published: 2022-01-07T15:43:10+00:00 Updated: 2026-08-19T15:53:47+00:00 ![Featured image]() Anyone who has driven the prior model years of the [Toyota Tundra]() knows the old JBL sound system was not worth it. It was tinny sounding, couldn’t handle a good bass, etc., and many people felt the base audio was better than the “premium” JBL system you had to pay more for. So, today Publisher Tim Esterdahl is reviewing the new 2022 Toyota Tundra JBL audio system to see if the improvements have made this add-on worth it. ### 12 speakers. Premium audio. So, has it improved since the last generation? Whether or not it’s worth it will be up to you, but we think it has improved a great deal. In [this video](), Esterdahl tests several copyright-free songs and turns the volume way up to check for any weird rattling, tinny sounds on the high notes and how the base feels for different types of music and it seems like it really checks out as a solid sound system. ### How to get the 2022 Toyota Tundra JBL audio system This new JBL system comes standard on the Limited trim and above, but it is an option as an addon for lower trim levels. And, something cool to note, this system is used to pipe exhaust notes into the cabin. Boy does it sound good! Check it out below and let us know if you’d upgrade to the 2022 Toyota Tundra JBL audio system. [Embedded video]() **Related posts** - [Is the 2022 Toyota Tundra smaller?
