If you are looking for a three-row, V-8-powered SUV, the QX80 might be the one to get. This test vehicle was the QX80 with the Sensory trim, and its starting price is $87k. (Gulp.) That’s a pretty steep price, but it is quite luxurious — and it’s still going to cost way less than the new [Jeep Grand Wagoneer](), which is going to have a six-figure sticker. ### What to like on the 2022 Infiniti QX80 This mid-cycle refresh has very few changes, the most notable of which is the new 12.3-inch touch screen that replaces the split screens from the previous model year. This new infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is fast, and the picture quality on the screen is clean and bright. Wireless charging and WiFi capability are also included. The 2022 Infiniti QX80 has a unique exterior. It’s big, it’s bold, and it has chrome in all the right places. For a vehicle this big with 22-inch wheels, the driving experience is very smooth, both on and off-road. And who doesn’t like a 5.6-liter V-8 engine? This SUV feels very powerful behind the wheel and is a pleasure to drive. In Esterdahl’s opinion, Infiniti outdoes itself with the QX80’s seats and interior. The first and second rows are incredibly comfortable. Plus, the well-padded seats are wrapped in beautiful leather with fine stitching details, making this one look and feel luxurious. ### What not to like While the wireless charging pad is large and works well, it is hard to get to, and Esterdahl reports his phone gets hot in there. It also seems to use a lot of space on the stack and leaves a weird blank space when the area is closed. Fuel economy — or lack thereof — is a huge deciding factor for a lot of SUV customers. The 2022 Infiniti QX80 offers an average of 15 MPG. Plus, premium fuel is recommended. So, in addition to the sticker price, this is one expensive SUV to drive. The QX80 has a very small sunroof compared to most of its competitors. For such a large vehicle that could be afforded a lot of natural light, this is kind of sad. Perhaps a full refresh, later on, will bring a full panoramic moonroof to this beautiful SUV. What the beep? When you’re standing next to the car and you press the little lock button on the door handle you hear a faint little chime and see the lights blink to let you know the doors have been locked or unlocked. But when you lock with the keyfob button the car beeps very loudly. Esterdahl finds this confusing, but I think it’s because you normally use your keyfob from a distance and you need to be able to hear it for confirmation the signal has reached and the doors have, in fact, locked/unlocked. I know I like to be able to unlock my car doors from inside my house before I load my arms up with the toddler and diaper bag, and I like to be able to hear that the car has gotten the message. So there. It’s for moms who have their hands full. Lastly, the QX80 doesn’t offer much in terms of payload. Rated at just 1,322 pounds, it’s barely enough to haul four adults and a standard-size boat with a little cargo. Then you’re all maxed out. Forget taking the entire family camping and hauling a decent-sized travel trailer. So, there you have it. [Watch the video]() and let us know what you think of this one.
