The past few weeks have been full of sneak peeks and speculation about the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 changes. We’ve seen spy photos, and we’ve had a close-up look at the [Silverado ZR2](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2021/09/2022-chevy-silverado-zr2-revealed-is-it-the-off-road-truck-youve-been-dreaming-of/>) that is coming out this fall. This week Publisher Tim Esterdahl brings us [news of some exciting changes](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrv0z4d-t1s&t=3s>) to the much-loved Silverado.

### Refreshed interior and exterior

Probably the biggest change of all on the inside is the new 13.4-inch diagonal touchscreen, which replaces the ridiculously small screens Chevy has had in its trucks up until now. But that’s not the only large screen. Chevy has also replaced the driver’s display behind the steering wheel with an all-new 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. So, that’s two big new screens.

You’ll also find more premium materials in the interior — such as real wood trim and custom quilted-and-perforated seats in the High Country trim and a Bose sound system with stainless steel speaker grilles in the HC and LT models.

Customers who choose a bucket seat configuration for the front seat will be able to choose an electronic console-mounted shifter instead of the standard column shifter.

On the outside, the headlamps on the 2022 Chevy Silverado have been lowered a bit, and the truck comes with three new color options: Dark Ash, Sand Dune and Glacier Blue Metallic.

### Mechanical changes for the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500

The 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with the 8-speed transmission will get 20% more torque than before. And, the [3.0-liter Duramax diesel](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2021/08/gm-3-0l-duramax-diesel-production-halted-not-discontinued/>) will be better for towing thanks to a bigger frame, which will upgrade the tow package giving the truck an additional 4,000 pounds of towing for a total of 13,000 pounds.

Yes, [Super Cruise](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2021/07/new-2022-sierra-confirmed-hands-free-towing-added-to-silverado-escalade/>) is coming to the Silverado 1500 High Country, and the new [Buckle to Drive](<https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2021/08/trigger-alert-buckle-to-drive-is-new-feature-for-2022-silverado-sierra-hummer/>) feature will also be found on the 1500 pickup trucks.

Watch [the video](<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrv0z4d-t1s&t=3s>) and let us know what changes you’re excited to see for the 2022 Silverado 1500 and which package you’d choose.
