In fact, it’s been so long since the Frontier’s looks have changed that no one really knew what to expect. Publisher Tim Esterdahl recently got to [drive the new Frontier]() briefly, and he’s here with a few quick notes. ### Updated looks The 2022 Nissan Frontier sports a more rugged appearance, drawing some of its design notes from the [Titan](). In some ways, it reminds us of the Tacoma, but Nissan has done a good job of making sure this truck has its own unique features including the headlamps, which are fantastic. Nissan’s rack system from the Titan’s bed has been brought to the Frontier for more usability. The tailgate is lightweight for ease of use and paired with an in-bed outlet this little truck is ready to serve as your on-the-job workbench. ### 2022 Nissan Frontier features to love Of course, the Pro-4X model Esterdahl got to drive has some extra special touches like bright orange accents and badging on the seats, but overall, this truck is comfortable and practical. With the addition of creature comforts like a power driver’s seat, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a quiet cabin and good visibility [this midsize pickup truck is ready to take on the competition](). In fact, Esterdahl thinks it may be better in some ways. The 9-inch infotainment screen is a class leader for this segment, and it’s integrated into the dash in a nice way instead of looking like an afterthought — as so many screens do these days. Plus, the truck has great grab bars for off-roading. The bed is kind of short, (5-feet on the crew cab model), but it seems long enough for utility use. And with a max tow rating of 6,720 pounds, the 2022 Nissan Frontier is capable of getting the boat to the lake. ### The bottom line on the 2022 Nissan Frontier While the looks and technology have definitely improved, the starting price for this midsize truck has increased to $37,240.
