A whole lot of back and forth about the 2021 Chevy Tahoe Diesel. It’s a good thing Jill Ciminillo, Kristin Shaw and I all love cars — and put up with Esterdahl. ### **First look at the exterior** Shaw starts us off with some deep thoughts: It’s big. Esterdahl points out the dark badging and accents give this 2021 Chevy Tahoe Diesel a moody grimace, and Ciminillo says it works with this dark paint color, but probably not with white. And that’s where I have to step up and disagree. It’s a good thing we tend to agree on most everything else, or this could be a really long video. ### **Check out that cargo space!** With the third row of seats down, Esterdahl has room for a set of golf clubs, the travel case he brought them in, and still there is floor space. Ciminillo hops in the back for a little demo that you’ll just have to see in the video as she takes her famous #girlinthetrunk to a whole new level. ### **Where the this Chevy Tahoe is lacking** Passenger comfort is a big deal and we all agree that GM has room for improvement in most of their vehicles, including the new Tahoe. The seats just aren’t padded enough. The [second-row entertainment system]() is also a sore spot for a few of us, and Ciminillo has a bone to pick with the designers of the front infotainment system as well. ### **Big wins** We all gave a big thumbs up for the sliding center console which hosts a hidden compartment up front and slides the cup holders and climate controls closer to the second-row passengers for much easier access. Seriously, someone should have thought of this a long time ago. Please, please add this feature to all the SUVs and minivans. Thank you very much! Other things we love include sliding captain’s chairs, the ability to send destination information and directions to the front navigation, a beautiful panoramic moonroof and a grown-up interior that doesn’t feel like a mom-car. ### **Drive impressions on the****2021 Chevy Tahoe Diesel** One of the best GM powertrains ever? Maybe — 24.2 MPG average for an SUV this large is unheard of. Esterdahl says the Tahoe “drives small” meaning it doesn’t feel like driving a truck. It’s smooth and quiet like a much smaller SUV.
