The all-new electric utility vehicle made its debut during the Final 4 games last night. But other than showing off some stunning cinematography with cool shots of the vehicle, we don’t have a lot of additional information to share – except for the fact you can [order yours now]() but it won’t be available until early 2023. OK, we do have a few more details but not much. GMC promises more information on April 5. Here are the (very) few things we do know right now: \[embedyt\] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwLvqvcWEos\[/embedyt\] ### **You already missed your opportunity to be first** Unless you were one of the lucky ones to log on to the reservation site immediately after the commercial, you aren’t getting one of the first Hummer EV SUVs available. The top-tier model with a price tag of $105,595 and “early 2023” availability is already fully reserved. We don’t know how many were available or when the reservations filled out. All we know is less than 24 hours later, they’re gone. Just so you know what you can’t have, this Edition 1 model has all the torque and range whistles and bells of the 3X model, but adds an Infinity Roof with transparent and removable sky panels, the Lunar Shadow interior with exclusive badging and Moonshot Green Matte Paint. You know – the paint in the commercial. ### **Gets up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque** Similar to the [Hummer EV pickup truck](), when equipped with three motors, the SUV will also get “up to” 830 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, which GMC says will be enough to get a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.5 seconds. This super sprint will be available using the Hummer’s “Watts to Freedom” mode, which we like to call WTF for short. This is a launch control mode, which as GMC puts it: “unlocks the full potential of the propulsion system.” In prep to launch, this mode will lower the vehicle 2 inches as well as engage a countdown. Note: There are some differences from the pickup truck, as it will get an estimated 1,000 horsepower and a 3-second 0-to-60-mph sprint. \[embedyt\] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O\_sMRLFncLs\[/embedyt\] ### **Base model not available until 2024** The Hummer EV SUV tops out at $110,595 if you opt for the Edition 1 model equipped with the extreme off-road package – which, of course, is no longer available. So, the earliest a vehicle will be available to the rest of the world is the spring of 2023, and that 3X trim will fall just under $100k at $99,995. It will have most of the cool stuff available on Edition 1 (except the paint and exclusive interior) and will push past the $100k point quickly. If you’re willing to trade some power, a motor and some cool tech, you can also get the 2X model in the spring of 2023 for just $89,995. However, if you want to cheap out and keep it under $80k, you’ll have to wait until spring of 2024 for the base 2 model. ![Hummer EV SUV]() The GMC Hummer EV SUV debuts in the low-contrast Lunar Shadow interior and includes a spacious cargo area and an architecturally inspired cabin. (Image courtesy of GMC) ### **A lot of standard stuff** While only the upper tiers of the Hummer EV SUV tout features like WTF, 300+ miles of range, Crab Walk mode and three motors, there are still a lot of standard goodies on even the base 2 trim. What you’ll get for $79,995 is: Super Cruise, 250+ miles of range, 22-inch wheels with 35-inch tires, Infinity Roof, Adrenaline Mode and 400-volt fast charge capability. The reservation site says two motors with an estimated 300+ miles of range are available and 800-volt fast-charge capaiblity, which leaves us wondering: Is the base model only standard with one motor, or is it a two-motor system that just offers less capability? ### **The bottom line on the Hummer EV SUV** We’re actually kind of excited about the return of the Hummer. We loved the gasoline variant for its incredible capability and kitschy coolness, and it looks like this EV version is adding even more cool and kitsch. But, damn, we have to wait to years for this sucker. That’s frustrating. Here’s to hoping it really is worth the wait.
