See what the kids and wife had to say about this massive SUV. (Photo by Tim Esterdahl) Publisher Tim Esterdahl took the family on a 400-mile road trip to South Dakota in the 2021 Infiniti QX80, and when he got back he asked the family what they thought about the vehicle. [In this video](), they cover its hits and misses as well as the fuel economy for this [big beast of an SUV](). ### **Things to love about the 2021 Infiniti QX80** The kids said they had plenty of room in the second row. The seats were comfortable, and they had plenty of storage and cup holders. They were also able to charge their tablets, which is a must for kids on the go. Tim and his wife Heather agreed with the kids — this vehicle is [big and comfortable](). Tim likes the styling and colors, the digital rearview mirror, the large seats and the smooth suspension. He was also a fan of the heated steering wheel. He said the all-wheel drive was a huge plus for the snowy and icy roads they encountered on the trip. ### **More bang for your buck?** Sometimes when you drive a vehicle with a steep price point you expect a little more, and the 2021 [Infiniti QX80]() did leave a few things to be desired. It seems the kids and Heather would have liked to see heated seats in the second row, and the kids wished the seats reclined a little more. Heather expected more of the center console/infotainment system. The dual-screen is just OK. They work, but the graphics aren’t super sharp. Tim mused that for this price point he’d expect a panoramic moonroof. ### **Thirsty V-8** This SUV is large and in charge, and that is reflected in the fuel economy. Tim says it averaged 16.7 MPG on their trip. And considering it uses premium 91 octane fuel, that adds up pretty quickly and is definitely something to consider when [shopping for a large SUV]().
