VIN No. 001, a TRX Launch Edition model with Anvil Gray paint, rolled off the line and will be auctioned off for charity early next year. [The Ram TRX]() was designed to be the quickest and most durable pickup truck. Full stop. It comes equipped with the same 6.2-liter V-8 dropped into the Dodge Hellcat vehicles, though it is retuned to deliver 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. In addition to being a powerful off-roader, the TRX is equipped to perform, with a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.5 seconds – though we might have done it a bit faster than that. If you were hoping to get one of the Launch Edition models, you’re out of luck – unless you want to wait for the auction. There were only 702 of those made, and they sold out in less than 3 hours. The TRX is being assembled at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently invested $1.5 billion in this plant, specifically to re-tool it to build the next generation Ram 1500 and support the future growth of the brand. “We’re ecstatic to announce the start of production of the award-winning, all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX,” said Mike Koval Jr., Head of Ram Brand, in a press release. “The Ram 1500 TRX bolsters the brand’s strong history of high-performance trucks while expanding Ram’s light-duty lineup with the segment’s best combination of performance, capability, luxury and technology.” ![2021 TRX production]() An employee at FCA’s Sterling Heights (Mich.) We acknowledge it’s not a practical truck with just 8,100 pounds of towing capacity, but it’s fun as heck and looks pretty darn cool. This is a new breed of truck that pushes the envelope in terms of performance and styling. We can’t wait to see what [Ford might do to the Raptor]() to compete.
