But it does get one big necessary addition: standard safety. While this isn’t a huge update, it is a big deal. The 2021 Murano gets Safety Shield 360, Nissan’s safety suite, as standard fare across all trims. This will include things such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and (get this!) automatic REVERSE braking. Previously safety features were offered as a $650 Technology Package on the base S trim. Frankly, this is a long-overdue update. When Nissan introduced standard safety on the sub-$20K Versa, including automatic reverse braking, this change couldn’t happen fast enough. But not so fast! This change brings updated pricing, and the 2020 model with the Technology Package is $130 *less*than the 2021 Murano with standard Safety Shield 360. In addition to some new exterior paint colors, the other big change for 2021 is going to be the Special Edition package, which replaces the SV Package. This will include a dual pane moonroof, around-view monitor, leatherette seating surfaces, heated front seats and 20-inch dark charcoal aluminum-alloy wheels. What’s not new? Pretty much everything else. Including the powertrain. The 2021 Murano comes equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. ![2021 Murano]() 2021 Nissan Murano (Photo courtesy of Nissan North America) Updated pricing is as follows: - Murano S FWD: $32,510 - Murano S AWD: $34,060 - Murano SV FWD: $35,640 - Murano SV AWD: $37,190 - Murano SL FWD: $40,010 - Murano SL AWD: $41,560 - Murano Platinum FWD: $44,060 - Murano Platinum AWD: $45,610 ### **The bottom line on the 2021 Murano** I’ve always liked how the Nissan Murano drives, and the Zero Gravity seats are some of the most comfortable car seats I’ve ever sat in. Like ever. And that includes vehicles from Bentley and Rolls-Royce. I’m glad Nissan is finally taking safety seriously and stopped including as an option on top-tier trims. But don’t get hoodwinked.
