Apparently a lot if you look at Bronco’s massive pool of accessories. From being a perfect vehicle for fishing to a pure trail buster, it seems the Bronco has a way to cover all of these niches. But what if you’re a camping nut (like this author) and need something to make sure you’re protected from the elements on an overland expedition? Ford has you covered with the Bronco Overland Concept. So what are the key things to know about the Bronco Overland Concept? ### **It comes with a two-person tent** The most obvious change will be the roof-mounted two-person tent. It’s a heavy-duty unit from Yakima and is accessed via a deployable ladder, and is designed to protect you from the elements — as well as dangerous animals like bears. ### **Cooking out has a whole new meaning** In addition to the elevated sleeping space, the rest of the interior gets a number of custom touches to make it more livable while overlanding. A key part of this is a cargo management system that includes an ARB-sourced refrigerator, portable stove and cooking kit. The fridge features a slide-out tray, and a set of folding chairs and a tailgate table are also part of the package too. Ford Bronco Overland Concept (Image Credit: Ford) Bronco Overland Concept side head on (Image Credit: Ford) (ford Bronco Overland Concept (Image Credit: Ford) ### **Based on the Badlands trim** Ford chose to base the concept [on a four-door Badlands model](), with the SUV receiving upgraded 17-inch Fifteen52 Turbomatic heavy-duty wheels in asphalt black and 35-inch BFGoodrich LT315/70R-17 mud-terrain KM3. A Ford Performance-sourced modular steel bumper is also added in, and it even comes with WARN front mounted winch. Other goodies include a RIGID rack mounted light bar and six additional light pods are mounted on the roof. The entire setup is supposed to provide a full 360 degrees of light. In the event you need help, a CB Radio is also on hand to help get in touch with the outside world. ### **Enthusiasts rejoice: 7-speed MT included** Performance for the concept comes from the base 2.3-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine, which is mated to a 7-speed manual. This is a rather curious move, but we suspect the beefier 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 was not used due to greater fuel economy concerns as well as being too heavy for the concept’s intended purpose. Despite that, the engine still produces 270 horsepower, and that should be more than enough power for most people to manage when embarking on an overlanding adventure. ### **The bottom line on the Bronco Overland Concept** Ford did not release a full list of equipment for the concept, and it’s unknown whether any of the 200 confirmed factory accessories are mounted on here. However, there’s a strong chance that some of them are in place.
