Both of these trucks bring their own interpretation of performance to the F-150 nameplate, but we have never seen them go head to head — until now. YouTube user *[StangMode]()* was out to answer that question in an all new video, and managed to get the two of them together for the [race showdown of the season](). But before we get into the fun stuff, let’s take a look at the tale of the tape between the two. The SVT Lightning was a gem of a performance truck when it made its appearance in 1999. The second iteration of the Lightning sub-model, this version went all out in its attempts to shock the performance pickup world with SVT engineers adding a number of upgrades to a regular cab F-150. This included a 5.4 liter supercharged V-8 that made 380 horsepower and was mated to a reworked four speed automatic. The Lightning has not returned to the marketplace since it was axed in 2004, but we have included a recent enthusiast rendering of a Lightning reboot below. ![]() Meanwhile, the F-150 Raptor approaches things a bit differently, and is tailored more towards off-road driving. The Raptor uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that makes 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The Raptor does give 1,000 pounds of curb weight to its on-road focused opponent, and the suspension is meant to soak up impacts from jumps, versus being a corner carving ballet dancer on twisty roads.
