According to the report published by *[GM Authority](),*the diesel-equipped variant will be available to order this coming November, which would finally give buyers an option for towing as well as maximum fuel economy. The new 3.0-liter oil burner is the same unit that is also found in the 2021 [Chevrolet]() Suburban and Tahoe which means that it will produce 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. ![GMC Yukon]() 2021 GMC Yukon Denali For comparison the biggest gasoline engine (the 6.2-liter) makes 420 horsepower and the same amount of torque. The biggest drawback of course was the 6.2-liter’s fuel economy which was always among the lower end of the segment. All three engines are paired with GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission which has been tuned to deliver smooth gearshifts and maximum fuel economy. The lone caveat for the diesel is it will not be available in all of its trims, with the diesel not being available for the off-road focused AT4 model. GM claims that the AT4’s exclusive front fascia interferes with both the diesel’s intercooler and the piping that would be needed to go along with it.
