The concern is over the bearing in the water pump failing which could lead to a fire through overheating. FCA says they are responding to customer feedback in issuing the recall which is expected to impact a little less than 444k Ram Heavy Duty pickups including medium-duty models. The offending water pump will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired at no cost to the consumer. ![2013–2017 Ram Trucks With Cummins Engines Recalled Over Water Pump Fire Concern]()This recall is limited to trucks with the 6.7L Cummins I-6 diesel engines. It applies to 2013–2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty, as well as the 3500, 4500, and 5500 chassis cab models. FCA is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to the recall, and that particular water pump is no longer used in new Ram trucks. Consumers may notice a warning light in the instrument cluster for the water pump going bad. If that light comes on, FCA says customers should see their dealer immediately. Owners of affected trucks will be notified when their vehicles can be repaired.
