On this special edition of the Pickup Truck + SUV Talk podcast, I explore a decidedly different topic – women’s influence and sexism in the automotive industry. The conversation explores how the industry presents itself, how other journalists treat each other and how consumers are often hurt by these actions. On the podcast, I interviewed three different journalists with varying perspectives. First up is Benjamin Hunting a long-time freelance writer with deep insights into this topic. Then Jill Ciminillo who is the first female president of the Midwest Automotive Media Association and follows in the footsteps of many key male colleagues who helped shape the industry. She is also the automotive editor for the Sinclair Broadcasting Group and previously held several newspaper editor and writer positions. Finally, Scotty Reiss, co-founder of, and the past president of IMPA which is one of the oldest automotive press associations in the country shares her thoughts on why she started his business and how the industry has changed. I hope you find it interesting and it sparks more conversations.
